Texas Match the Promise Foundation

Texas Match the Promise Foundation logoTexas is the place where big dreams and ambitions work alongside possibilities and opportunities. The right training and education for our children are critical to the future of Texas. Our state economy is large and diverse enough to provide a complete range of career choices that ensures there's every chance for every Texan.

Match the Promise is a new statewide initiative designed to help all Texas children achieve rewarding careers and strong incomes by offering families with stretched budgets a way to pay for postsecondary training and education.

How It Works:

The Comptroller's office encourages all families to take advantage of the opportunities available through the Texas Tuition Promise Fund, the state's prepaid college tuition plan. The Promise Fund allows Texans to lock in the cost of undergraduate college tuition and required fees at today's costs. Families can purchase tuition units to cover all or a portion of tuition and required fees at any eligible Texas university, community college or technical school. Units can also be used at accredited Texas private schools or out-of-state schools.

Individuals and companies can make donations to the Texas Match the Promise Foundation to be used to supplement the college savings of families with prepaid tuition accounts in the Texas Tuition Promise Fund. Donations will provide matching scholarships to students with demonstrated needs. The Texas Match the Promise Foundation is a 501(c)(3) federal tax-exempt charitable organization and contributions are tax deductible.

Qualified families with prepaid tuition accounts may be eligible for matching scholarships through the Texas Match the Promise Foundation. The Texas Match the Promise Foundation board will determine awards. Application details and eligibility information will be available on this site at a later date. Qualifications for scholarships may include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Must be a Texas resident
  • Must be a beneficiary of a Texas Tuition Promise Fund prepaid tuition account
  • Must meet standards related to academic performance
  • Must attend a Texas accredited higher education institution
  • Must meet family income eligibility guidelines
