Texas Work Force.
Glenn Hegar, Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts
In 2009, the Texas Legislature approved the Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) legislation to provide grants that help Texans get technical training for careers in fast-growing, “high-demand” occupations.
These include high-paying fields such as high-tech manufacturing, computer support, nursing and allied health professions.
The 2013 Texas Legislature approved an additional $10 million for the equipment and training grant portion of the JET Program. The Comptroller’s office will administer these dollars over the next biennium.
